Buy the entire album: you get a BONUS TRACK! You get a lovely bonus CD booklet WITH lyrics, liner notes, photos and so on. It is simply gorgeous. AND currently, you don't get the booklet with ANY other digital music store purchase... so that is food for thought. Thank you! :)
The SEVENTH official release from Supersonic Tartan Death Machine. These songs were created in the June to September 2015.
GONE! Are the numbered albums... for now. They ended with "électrocelte 9.0"... it is now time to move on. There are 13 tracks in total, of which one, "The Phalanx", is a bonus track.
This album is as hefty as the long-winded title bequeathed it. A collection of rock songs, soundscapes, romantic ballads of love (or lost love), plus songs about mystical inter-dimensional portals, late night drives, rainy nights, hardy and musical Norwegian mountain men, legendary sea creatures and much much more. The instrumentals tell a story as much as the songs do, some of them being almost cinematic in nature...
WHY YES! It is. The album name is outrageous. The band name is outrageous. The fact that this is my fourth full album in 2015 is outrageous. The fact that I wear a kilt is outrageous. The musical style is also pretty outrageous... but here is some of the
FEEDBACK! Received so far:
•"In a word : trippy ! Great spoken part from Steve, reminded me of the late great Terence Mckenna. Mind melting otherworldly drones and ambiences, very cool. Now....how do I get back to reality ?" (on Gateway)
•"Sort of REMish in style.." (on I Blame the World)
•"Very nice melodies going on this song. Great folk vibe and lovely pipe work!" and "hooked" (on Man In the Land of the Midnight Sun)
•"This is Mint, with the pipes and electro backing plus kit very good indeed, intense and magical!" (on The Fair Maid)
•"Mental!" and "I wondered when the trademark pipes would come in... here they are!" (on Tullochgorum)
•"Reminds me of tenacious D....def has a Jack black flavour in your vocal...super interesting composition...with atmosphere" (on Summer Rains)
•"Mesmerising! I think you've invented "Pipe-edelia" ! A real mantra of sounds, cool stuff..." and "Trippy, great synth n pipe combo, great opening too....spooky wormhole ending...nice!" (on The Peninsula)
This album was created on a backbone of amazing iOS music app voodoo magic, fused with a solid core of Highland Bagpipe, practice chanter, small pipe and Irish whistle sounds. The entirety was mixed and mastered in iOS but also in Logic Pro X at Bearcave Studios Montreal. It is no secret that Jeff's musical tastes include bagpipes, electronica, loud crunchy guitars, and poignant vocals. And the occasional vibraslap. Just to wake people up a bit. Pour a glass of whisky, have a seat and take a ride in this tartan-clad world which is just a bit edgy, but infused with much imagination and passion.
released October 1, 2015
•Steve Raizen, aka Frozen Lonesome: the announcer on "Gateway"
•Martin Neuhold: Fender Stratocaster Guitar played through BIAS FX on "And Dreams"
Thanks to all of my mates at WTMD, some of which are also my mates in Dun Aenghus, Steve Raizen, Clif at Apptronica, pantsofdeath, Mike Wadlow, The Piecan, Darby Spicer and others in the iOS music space who have listened, commented, and encouraged me in my mission. Thanks to Nathan for all of his fine Soundcloud commentaries, and critiques... Thanks to J. Scott Skinner for the great strathspey, "Tullochgorum". Special thanks again to Martin Neuhold for creating the sweet guitar stem that he kindly allowed us to use on the "Dreaming" album...
CUMHA NA THA SIBH. You can call it "électrocelte", electronic-celtic-alternative indierock fusion. I use iPad & a wide
variety of great iOS apps to make my music. I wear a kilt daily, play highland pipes, border pipes, Irish Whistles, & am a prolific composer/writer & singer of new tunes & songs. My inspirations include Martyn Bennett, Rare Air & Gordon Duncan.
