This project is a concept album, created during February Album Writer's Month 2016. Originally 15 tracks were created in 29 days. The 14th track, "Azhbelgorrath's Fall" was a monstrous, 20 minute track. It was decided after FAWM to break it down into 3 parts, and so "Trials of Darkmountain" and "Winding Corridors" became tracks 14 and 15. Track 16 became "Azhbelgorrath's Fall". The original Track 15 became Track 17, the epilogue, called "Monarch". Tracks 18 and 19 are derivatives of work created during FAWM, and were created during the summer of 2016. Track 20 is a 13 minute bonus track which discusses the making of this album...

This is a genre which I can slip into very easily. A veteran of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, going all the way back to 1977, for many years I enjoyed creating stories and scenarios as a Dungeon Master, and player... to me this is like musical Dungeon Mastering. It is part fantasy, part myth, and definitely rolls in a similar vein to many of the stories we have heard before. The Lord of The Rings, Dragonlance, Slaine the Horned God, The Dark Elf trilogy, Monty Python's Quest for The Holy Grail, Elric of Melniboné, and so many other epic sagas. I have also played other games such as Magic the Gathering, Neverwinter Nights, and World of Warcraft, and so of course I found much inspiration there as well...

This album has been a great pleasure to create and I am personally quite happy with how it turned out. To me it is like a soundtrack to a tale which has so much potential for a sequel. Working with apps like Fugue Machine, Thumbjam, KORG Gadget, Korg iM1, Animoog, Audioshare, Audiobus, AUFX PeakQ, Beatmakker 2, THOR and others, along with a perfectly timed update of Garageband for iOS, the workflow was smooth and easy. I never thought it possible to generate so much music over such a short period of time, as in the past, but with the tools now available in iOS, a music creator can easily get it done with a decent amount of effort.

Whenever I create a concept album, there is a departure from what I usually do. I think this album and its sounds definitely reflect that in many ways. I hope you enjoy Everdawn and its characters as much as I did enjoy creating them and sharing them with you. I truly believe there is more to say on the subject of Everdawn, and so stay tuned...
